FAQ regarding scanlation
 |
=> Why won't you produce High quality (aka HQ) scans?
I believe that scanlator's jobs are letting people have a taste of series.
By making HQ, you are not encouraging people to buy the series you scanlate. and that is the least thing anyone should do if they really care about the market.
Furthermore, since I make a small release everyday, I cannot afford to spend too much time on one page when editing each pages. I generally set maximum of few minutes on one page. Therefore, I always do not edit the pages carefully and simply cut out text embedded into manga drawings. This is done to save time on my end. Remember, I am doing this alone.
To sum it up, I will never do HQ. If you want HQ, buy the manga books themselves, that is the least you can do to respect manga authors if you enjoyed their manga.
=> I see a lot of grammar mistakes and wrongfully used words. Why not get someone to check the mistakes?
It's free. If you want perfect grammar and wording, go buy the book, period.
However, if errors are pointed by in comments section, those will be corrected.
=> But I cannot read neither Japanese or Korean.
That is none of my concern honestly.
=> You said you want to encourage others to buy the books. Then why are you finishing the whole series?
Those series I choose are most likely won't be imported. I know many can't read Korean / Japanese, so by finishing the whole series you will have at least a way of understanding the series. That is ... if and when you actually decide to get your hands on actual books.
=> Why not translate the background sounds?
I want to leave the scan as original as possible. "Originality" is one of the most important factor for hardcore fans.
Besides, when you read a lot of manhwa or manga, you get to learn the sound words eventually.
=> Can't you do anything about the gray area on an edge of pages?
I don't want to tear books and scan them. Some of the series can not be bought on market anymore (Not by normal means).
I am not about to ruin those treasures.
Recent scanlation, however, might not have the dreaded gray edges.
